As first reported by Cleveland.com, Southwest General Health Center in Middleburg Heights is turning to AI to reduce administrative burdens and improve patient experiences. The hospital is now deploying Notable, an AI platform that automates repetitive tasks such as sending appointment reminders, collecting check-in information, and updating electronic health records. This initiative allows healthcare staff to dedicate more time to direct patient care rather than paperwork.

Notable’s AI is already in use at over 12,000 healthcare facilities, and Southwest General’s implementation marks another step in the region’s broader push toward AI integration. The platform enhances outreach by contacting patients in their preferred language and communication format to confirm, cancel, or reschedule appointments—an improvement in accessibility and personalization that reflects the hospital’s community-focused mission.

A growing trend in Cleveland’s healthcare systems

Southwest General joins Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals in leveraging AI to transform care delivery. Cleveland Clinic began using AI earlier this year to automatically generate medical notes from caregiver-patient conversations in outpatient settings. University Hospitals, meanwhile, introduced the Varian Ethos 2.0 system to generate precise imaging for radiation treatments, improving accuracy and efficiency in oncology care.

This regional momentum reflects a larger trend toward embedding AI in both clinical and operational functions across healthcare. By taking on time-consuming administrative work, these platforms are freeing up clinicians to focus on patient outcomes, while also making the healthcare experience more connected and less fragmented for patients.

Enhancing care through smart automation

Southwest General’s adoption of Notable AI highlights a commitment to both technological innovation and compassionate care. As more hospitals turn to AI to handle routine processes, the patient experience is set to become more streamlined, personalized, and efficient. With Cleveland-area health systems leading the charge, the future of healthcare delivery in the region is being reshaped—one algorithm at a time.
