Oracle Health’s AI-backed patient portal is now generally available in the U.S., giving patients plain-language explanations of diagnoses, lab results and treatment paths generated by OpenAI foundation models.

The portal, first previewed at the Oracle Health and Life Sciences Summit last fall, is fully integrated with Oracle’s EHR. Patients can review records, message providers, schedule appointments and ask questions that return AI-generated answers.

Built-in controls keep the AI from offering medical advice, diagnoses or treatment recommendations, Oracle says. All AI-written text is marked so patients can distinguish it from clinician notes.

The launch is the latest step in Oracle’s effort to differentiate its EHR against Epic, which held roughly double Oracle’s acute care market share as of 2024. In August 2025 the company shipped an AI-backed EHR that lets ambulatory clinicians use voice commands to pull lab results and generate summaries, with an acute care version planned this year.

Oracle joins a growing wave of vendors putting generative AI in front of patients. Health systems and vendors alike are betting that patient-facing AI can reduce phone calls, clarify confusing records and improve satisfaction without crossing into clinical decision-making.
