AI-Driven Platform Enhances Post-Imaging Care

Baptist Health Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute in Florida has announced the deployment of an AI-enabled platform, Eon, designed to ensure patients receive timely follow-up care after imaging exams. The technology automatically reviews radiology reports and electronic medical record data to identify incidental findings—unexpected discoveries made during imaging performed for other reasons—that may require additional attention.

Prioritizing Findings for Faster Action

Currently focused on incidental lung and pancreas findings, the platform organizes results by level of concern, enabling care teams to determine appropriate next steps. High-concern findings are flagged for expedited review through established clinical pathways, while lower-risk findings are tracked for recommended follow-up via the software. Both patients and their ordering physicians are notified of the results.

Supporting Clinical Decision-Making

The tool is designed to support physicians by streamlining information review without replacing clinical judgment. Baptist Health plans to expand the platform to cover incidental findings in the breast, thyroid, kidney, and liver, further reducing the risk of delayed diagnosis and improving patient outcomes.
