Beyang Therapeutics closed an oversubscribed Series A round of nearly $30 million. Legend Capital and Shanghai Healthcare Capital co-led the financing, with participation from China Medical System Holdings, Fenglei Capital, Shanghai Sci-Tech Innovation Center Capital, and Harbor & Canton Capital. Existing backers Root Venture Partners and YuanBio Venture Capital also joined.
Proceeds fund the ExCEED platform. It fuses proprietary databases with AI and computational simulation for molecular design, druggability optimization, and biological evaluation. The system placed eighth among more than 350 entrants in the OpenADMET blind prediction challenge.
Beyang’s lead candidate, BT01001, is a small-molecule eye drop for retinal diseases that showed best-in-class ocular exposure in preclinical head-to-head studies. It completed Phase I single and multiple ascending dose trials and is moving toward first-in-patient studies. Its second program, BT01002, goes after acute leukemia. The drug is a next-generation Menin inhibitor built to sidestep the resistance mutations seen in KMT2Ar and NPM1 forms of the disease, and it is now in IND-enabling studies.
Founded in 2021, Beyang describes itself as building a DreamWorks for innovative drug discovery, generating novel scaffolds rather than variations on existing cores. The round also supports expanding its international research and business development teams.
