Cedar launched the Kora Platform, moving from a single AI billing agent to a suite of purpose-built agents that cooperate to recover patient revenue and cut cost-to-collect. The platform integrates with a provider’s existing EHR, telephony, and call center systems, turning billing notifications into conversations over voice and two-way text.

Patients, Cedar argues, have quietly turned into one of the biggest payers in healthcare, and their balances are costlier to chase. Nearly 40% of collectible dollars on Cedar’s platform now come from uninsured patients, a share that climbed 54% over three years. Cedar estimates the national hospital revenue impact of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act could top $68.6 billion across 2026 and 2027.

Kora draws on a decade of experience resolving more than 1.5 billion patient bills. It can distinguish a patient who is confused from one who cannot pay right now from one who simply needs to access HSA funds, and engages each differently. The agents remember past conversations so patients do not have to start from scratch on follow-up calls.

Chief Strategy Officer Dugan Winkie said patients facing unexpected costs need clarity, flexibility, and empathy rather than rigid phone trees or transactional chatbots. The platform aims to keep live agents focused on conversations that truly require human touch.
