Oncology trial recruitment is hard, unglamorous work, and one company doing it with AI is widening its map. Massive Bio has hired a consultancy, Intralink, to grow its presence in South Korea. It already keeps an office in Seoul.
Its specialty is the unglamorous middle of the process. Studies set narrow eligibility rules, and patients who would qualify often never hear that the trial exists.
The company puts its own numbers on that work: 200,000 patients matched, 19,000 trials in the pool, 17 markets covered.
In Seoul, the consultancy will court hospitals, diagnostic laboratories and oncologists. Both firms will also appear together at a precision oncology conference in November.
The engine behind the matching is branded RNex. In practice it blends consented patient records with clinical data to work out who fits a given study. Chief executive Selin Kurnaz described Korea’s oncology ecosystem and research base as a priority.
Trial matching has become a crowded corner of healthcare AI, and data access, not model architecture, separates the players. Korea’s dense hospital networks make it an attractive testing ground. Whether an outside vendor can work alongside local institutions will decide who wins there. The company is a founding member of CancerX and an OpenAI select partner.
