Insilico Medicine has triggered the first discovery milestone in its oncology collaboration with Servier, earning an undisclosed payment from the French drugmaker. The company reported the milestone on Monday.

The partnership was signed in early 2026 and pairs Insilico’s Pharma.AI discovery engine with Servier’s oncology development and commercial reach. Under the terms, Insilico runs AI-driven discovery and early work, while Servier funds a share of research and takes over later clinical development. The deal carries up to $888M in potential payments, including $32M in upfront and near-term research funding.

In roughly 10 months the two companies launched two programs against difficult cancer pathways and finished nominating targets for both. The milestone payment follows the first program’s early discovery results, though the amount stays private.

Founder and chief executive Alex Zhavoronkov said the pace of getting two programs started inside a year was the point of the arrangement.

The news lands alongside a strong financial run for the Hong Kong-listed company. Insilico booked about $106M in revenue in the first half of 2026, up 287% year over year, and an adjusted net profit above $51M, its first profitable half since listing. Out-licensing and co-development deals with partners including Eli Lilly, Takeda, SK Biopharmaceuticals and Qilu Pharmaceutical drove most of that.

Milestone structures remain the industry’s preferred way to buy AI drug discovery. They keep upfront cash small while tying the real payout to molecules that survive preclinical work, a filter that has cleared few programs so far.
