AI Agents Under Scrutiny for Security Vulnerabilities

Recent research from leading institutions including Stanford, MIT, and Carnegie Mellon has revealed that most production AI agents are vulnerable to multi-step attacks. The study highlights that memory, tool access, and agent coordination create failure modes that traditional chatbot safety testing cannot detect. This finding raises concerns as financial giants like Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, and AIG move AI into core business operations, sharing deployment strategies and lessons learned in governance and ROI.

Pentagon Diversifies AI Suppliers Amid Policy Disputes

The Pentagon has announced it will no longer rely on a single artificial intelligence provider, as the White House pushes agencies to diversify frontier AI systems. This decision comes amid an escalating legal and policy fight with Anthropic over military use of advanced models. Separately, Anthropic’s CEO Dario Amodei warned that their Claude Mythos system has found tens of thousands of unpatched software vulnerabilities, with a six to twelve month window before Chinese AI models catch up.

Financial Sector AI Deployments and Regulatory Concerns

FIS has partnered with Anthropic to deploy an AI agent that automates money laundering investigations, aiming to reduce casework from days to minutes, with BMO and Amalgamated Bank as early adopters. Meanwhile, regulatory attorney Elizabeth Hodge warns that AI embedded in newer software versions but not explicitly revealed by vendors poses a substantial risk on par with shadow AI. Additionally, two artificial intelligence models from competing labs now deliver near-identical offensive cyber performance, with consistent reasoning failures that cyber scores alone do not capture.
