Berlin-based Aignostics has launched HETA Clinical, a new family of AI products built to move pathology work through the lab faster and reduce the number of molecular tests that fail and have to be repeated.
The company is releasing the suite for research use only, a deliberate first step while it pursues the clinical validation that regulated diagnostic work demands. Failed molecular tests are a chronic and expensive problem in pathology: when a tissue sample is too scant, degraded or poorly selected, the downstream sequencing run yields nothing and the patient waits again.
Aignostics positions HETA Clinical as a workflow layer that helps pathologists and lab scientists identify the right tissue regions before those costly steps run.
The launch lands as digital pathology draws heavy investment. Agilent agreed to spend up to $270M for Proscia this week, and Aiforia and PathAI opened a shared storefront for algorithms. Vendors are racing to own the software layer that sits between the scanner and the pathologist.
Aignostics has not disclosed pricing or which laboratories are using the product.
