Burjeel Holdings has opened what it calls the Gulf region’s first AI-powered catheterization laboratories, at Burjeel Hospital Abu Dhabi and Burjeel Specialty Hospital in Sharjah.
The rooms run Siemens Healthineers’ ARTIS icono.vision platform, which pairs AI with high-definition imaging, 3D visualization, real-time procedural guidance and automated workflow support. At its center is OPTIQ AI, an extension of the existing OPTIQ technology that analyzes live images and reduces background noise in real time.
The stated benefit is twofold. Physicians get clearer views of difficult anatomy during long or complex cases, and the system holds image quality while managing radiation exposure and contrast volume, both of which accumulate in protracted interventions.
Built for multidisciplinary use
Burjeel intends the labs to serve interventional cardiology, structural heart work, vascular surgery, interventional radiology, neurointervention and pain management. Supported procedures range from complex coronary work and chronic total occlusions to peripheral vascular therapy, embolization, interventional oncology and advanced aortic repair.
The investment widens access to minimally invasive cardiac care in a market where such capacity has been concentrated in a handful of centers, and it gives Burjeel a visible flagship for its broader healthcare AI push across the Emirates.
