Health plans employ people whose job is to read regulations and decide what changes. Readily thinks AI should do the first pass.
Define Ventures leads a Series A
The New York-based company raised $11M in Series A funding led by Define Ventures, with Y Combinator and the California Health Care Foundation Innovation Fund taking part. The round follows an earlier stretch building an oversight platform aimed squarely at managed care compliance teams.
Readily’s software parses new regulatory requirements, then maps them against a plan’s internal policies and contracts so staff can see where the two diverge. That is the core of audit readiness for organizations facing thousands of pages of shifting Medicaid and federal rulemaking.
Compliance as a search problem
The technical bet is that most compliance work is really matching: new obligation on one side, existing policy language on the other. Large language models are unusually good at that comparison and unusually bad at being trusted without a paper trail, which is why the product emphasizes traceable links between a rule and the policy it touches.
Founder and CEO Edward Tiong has positioned the company around Medicaid managed care plans, a segment with thin margins and heavy documentation requirements.
Competition comes from consultancies and internal legal teams, not primarily from other AI vendors. The question investors are underwriting is whether payers will trust software to flag obligations before a regulator does.
