A $3M seed round has been raised by Drylab AI, led by Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia and India, with patent intelligence platform PatSnap taking part. Research agents designed to work without constant supervision are what the company builds.
Rather than answering a prompt and waiting, an objective is taken by Drylab’s agents, a strategy is formed, and then more than 800 integrated scientific tools and databases are drawn on to carry out the work. Results are interpreted and failures are troubleshot on their own. Real analysis runs formed the training data for the model, which learned from the methodological errors made along the way.
## Deployed inside the customer’s walls
Biopharma’s data problem is what the commercial pitch targets. Autonomous research capability is wanted by companies, but proprietary discoveries will not be sent to a third-party cloud, so deployment inside a pharma company’s or research institution’s own infrastructure is how Drylab works.
Since the platform launched in February 2026, paying customers have signed on across Asia, Europe and the US, spanning universities, biomedical research institutes, cancer centers and pharmaceutical companies. In data terms, the company frames the problem: the ability to analyze genomic data has not kept pace even though sequencing costs collapsed from about $95M for a human genome in 2001 to roughly $500 by 2022.
Hiring is what the capital will fund, along with the security and compliance certifications large research organizations demand.
