Corner Health has secured $32.5M in seed and series A funding for its AI-powered platform that lets nurse practitioners launch and operate independent primary care practices. The series A was led by Oak HC/FT, with participation from First Round Capital and Zigg Capital.
AI that reduces patient volume, not increases it
Unlike most healthcare AI tools designed to help clinicians see more patients faster, Corner Health takes the opposite approach. Its AI operating system, Cora, automates billing, lab orders, scheduling, referrals, prior authorizations and patient communication — freeing nurse practitioners to spend two to three times longer with each patient.
“We’re using AI to create the opposite outcome,” said Anne Gifford, co-founder and COO. “Our providers can see fewer patients, spend 2-3x more time with each one, and still build thriving independent practices.”
Addressing the physician shortage
With over 461,000 nurse practitioners in the US and a projected physician shortage of up to 86,000 by 2036, NP-led independent practices are increasingly filling primary care gaps. Corner Health currently operates in Arizona and Washington, both full-practice-authority states, and plans to use the new funding to expand to additional states.
