Two US health systems of markedly different sizes have begun using Epic Systems’ no-code Agent Factory platform to deploy autonomous AI agents directly in clinical workflows, the company announced July 22.

Advocate Health, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit systems, and ECU Health, a regional network serving eastern North Carolina, both built AI agents on the platform without writing custom code. The agents handle tasks ranging from prior authorization documentation to care coordination follow-ups.

Epic’s Agent Factory allows health systems to configure AI agents through a drag-and-drop interface that connects to the existing electronic health record. The platform handles compliance, audit logging, and integration with payer systems out of the box.

The two deployments demonstrate that no-code AI agent development is accessible to both large academic medical centers and smaller regional systems, potentially accelerating adoption across the healthcare industry.
