Quantum optimization, AI and conventional analytics will be applied under a collaboration announced by INmune Bio and Quantum Computing Inc., aimed at INmune’s investigational Alzheimer’s treatment XPro.
Repurposing by biology rather than by guesswork is the premise. Data from preclinical work through four clinical trials is being contributed by INmune, and the partners will analyze it alongside public biomedical datasets to find diseases driven by the same inflammatory biology XPro targets. How likely each candidate is to succeed will determine its ranking, with rare diseases placed first because their trials can be smaller and faster.
## The first commercial pharma customer for Dirac-3S
In pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, the Stage 1 engagement is the first commercial customer for Quantum Computing’s Dirac-3S machine. Options for further work as INmune advances its programs are included in the agreement.
At commercial scale, quantum computing’s role in drug discovery remains largely unproven, so this is a small, carefully scoped test rather than a bet on quantum delivering near-term cures. Rare disease trials that can run smaller and more cheaply are what INmune’s chief executive, David Moss, points to as the tell on economics, and he notes that a qualifying pediatric approval can earn a Priority Review Voucher.
