Fujifilm India has partnered with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi on a clinical research study into AI-assisted endoscopy for upper gastrointestinal cancers.
The work, funded through Fujifilm India’s corporate social responsibility program, will evaluate whether AI can help clinicians detect malignancies earlier and more effectively during routine endoscopic exams.
Early-stage gastrointestinal lesions are easy to miss. Their appearance is subtle and detection varies between examiners, so missed or delayed diagnoses are common.
AI-assisted endoscopy aims to flag suspicious abnormalities in real time, giving the endoscopist a second set of eyes during the procedure rather than after it.
The collaboration is intended to generate clinical evidence on whether the approach holds up in Indian patient populations, where upper gastrointestinal cancers remain a heavy burden.
The announcement comes as India’s health system increasingly tests AI tools in real clinical settings, from imaging to diagnostics to workflow automation.
