Carenet Health has acquired Invene, a healthcare data and AI consultancy, to deepen the agentic AI work it does for payers and health plans.
Carenet runs engagement and care navigation programs for health plans, employers and providers, handling large volumes of member outreach, triage and follow-up. Invene brings the engineering bench to build AI agents that can carry multi-step tasks across those workflows rather than drafting text for a human to send.
Agentic systems are the current focus of payer technology spending. Unlike a chatbot that answers a question, an agent can look up eligibility, draft an outreach, schedule a follow-up and log the outcome, which is exactly the kind of repetitive coordination work health plans staff heavily.
Carenet said the acquisition adds healthcare AI and data consulting to its existing engagement suite. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The deal follows a wave of consolidation in healthcare AI services, including Zocdoc’s purchase of Sohar Health this month.
