Zocdoc has acquired Sohar Health, an automated insurance benefits eligibility company, in the first corporate acquisition of its nearly 20-year history. The transaction closed on October 2.
Sohar’s technology verifies a patient’s coverage from minimal demographic inputs rather than the group numbers, subscriber IDs and payer portal codes that legacy eligibility platforms demand. Zocdoc picked the startup as its core verification partner in 2025 and says millions of patients have already used the technology inside its booking flow.
The deal is part of Zocdoc’s shift from a consumer appointment marketplace into what it calls healthcare access infrastructure, a layer that handles discovery, coverage checks and booking wherever a patient starts searching. Getting eligibility wrong is one of the most common reasons a scheduled appointment turns into a billing dispute.
Anurag Agarwal and Ritvik Singh, Sohar’s co-founders, join Zocdoc in the acquisition. Terms were not disclosed.
