Weave Bio’s AI regulatory platform is now running inside Takeda’s pipeline. The rollout spans 14 active drug programs across several global markets. Both firms announced the deployment on September 1.

The work targets regulatory dossier authoring, long a choke point that keeps scientific data trapped in static documents that are hard to maintain. Weave Bio automates information extraction, cross-referencing and first-pass drafting. Takeda’s regulatory teams keep final say over verification, edits and sign-offs, an arrangement aligned with FDA draft guidance and the joint FDA and EMA principles on AI.

A study co-authored by researchers from both companies and posted on arXiv quantifies the gains. Drafting nonclinical written summaries dropped from roughly 100 hours to about three hours, a 97% cut that compressed overall preparation timelines by 60%. The platform also held 95% fidelity to source study reports and cleared more than 100 health authority questions with zero extraction errors, scoring 68% average answer quality.

Every generated sentence and numerical table carries a pointer back to its source paragraph, so reviewers can verify claims instantly. What started as automated IND module drafting has grown into question intake and response workflows across the 14 programs.
