Throne Science has closed a $10M Series A for its AI-powered toilet sensor. The Austin startup will use the funds to push the device toward early cancer detection. Will Ventures led the round, drawing in Emerson Collective, Workshop, LEAD VC, Salt VC, Accomplice, Moxxie, Ventures Together, Symphony, Felix Capital, Cosmic Venture Partners, Offscript, V1.VC and Morrison Seger.
The company says the capital will expand its workforce and fund the next generation of the sensor, which it ultimately aims to use to flag potential early signs of colorectal cancer and cancers of the urinary tract.
Its Throne One device clips onto a standard toilet rim and uses computer vision and AI to track stool form and frequency, hydration based on urine color analysis, urinary flow habits and bathroom habits. The information flows to a companion app that shows users results and longer-term trends. The company also released a beta version of its Gut Health AI coach earlier this year, which lets users ask questions about their health data.
The sensor costs $399, plus a $5.99 monthly subscription. Throne Science was founded in 2023 by CEO Scott Hickle, CTO Tim Blumberg and John Capodilupo, a cofounder and former CTO of Whoop. It launched Throne One in March 2026 after a $4M seed round in 2025.
Throne joins a growing field of toilet-based health tracking. Withings offers the U-Scan urine analysis platform, and Casana won FDA clearance for its Smart Seat heart and oxygen monitor in 2023.
