Isomorphic Labs is in early talks to raise fresh capital at a valuation of at least $40 billion, according to reports. One person familiar with the discussions said the top of the range could reach $50 billion. No round has closed.
The London company was formed in 2021 out of Google DeepMind to commercialize AlphaFold, the protein structure model that helped earn its creators a share of the chemistry Nobel Prize. In May it raised $2.1 billion without disclosing what that round was worth.
Its flagship platform, IsoDDE, automates parts of early drug research that have long consumed years of bench time. A key feature targets binding pocket discovery, the search for the precise spot on a cell surface where a therapy can attach. Isomorphic said in February that IsoDDE outperformed the closest competing tool by more than half on that task.
What the money would buy
The raise would land as investors push capital toward platforms promising to shorten the path from target to clinic. Grand View Research sizes AI-driven drug discovery at a market still in its early expansion.
Isomorphic has said it expects its first clinical trials by the end of 2026. That would mark the shift from software to human data for a company that has spent its life so far on models and molecules in silico.
The reported valuation would place the company among the most richly priced private biotech startups. Bloomberg first reported the talks.
