Kyowa Kirin, a Japanese specialty pharma company, is putting Benchling’s AI research platform at the center of its R&D operations. Cognizant will run the rollout across its Tokyo Research Park and Fuji Research Park sites.
Announced August 16, the arrangement gives scientists a single environment for structured data, AI models and agents, and automated workflows. Researchers in Kyowa Kirin’s Research Division will move from experiment planning and execution through data collection and AI use without switching tools.
Cognizant’s role covers centralized data management, enhanced molecular design processes and workflow automation. The pharma company framed the shift as a response to an expanding pipeline and increasingly complex research needs.
Kyowa Kirin is also advancing next-generation antibody engineering and blood stem cell gene therapy. It sees AI-native research stacks, where data capture, model inference and regulatory records live in one workflow, as the direction of the industry.
