Illumina unveiled BioInsight, a unified software environment that gives researchers one place to run the company’s analysis applications, AI tools and curated datasets against multiomics data.
The launch came just ahead of the American Society of Human Genetics annual meeting, the field’s biggest stage for tool announcements. Until now, scientists running genomics, transcriptomics and methylation work on Illumina instruments have moved between separate software packages for each data type.
Consolidating that stack matters as sequencing customers push toward multiomic studies, where the same tissue sample yields several data layers that have to be analyzed together. Alongside the platform Illumina released DRAGEN v4.6, the newest version of its secondary analysis software.
The company has been under pressure to show that its installed base can be monetized through software as instrument sales cool. BioInsight is the clearest move yet in that direction.
Illumina did not disclose pricing for the platform.
